Can Cordyceps Fight Cholesterol?

The number of pharmacies in every modern city and even in the smallest town astonishes; the sales of drugs are reported to grow significantly year by year; scientists discover and develop newer, more effective, and stronger medicines. It seems a modern human being has all the opportunities and chances to be healthy, strong, and happy.

Amazingly, a number of diseases-struck people grows steadily. It looks like a vicious circle: the more a human kind progresses, the stronger its enemies (viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc.) become.

Some people may interpret such situation as a sing to return to natural methods of healing. Perhaps, that is the reason why more and more western people show interest in traditional medicines, the most developed of which is the Chinese one, having long history of use, especially in Tibet.

Cordyceps is a parasite, which finds its home and the most convenient place to grow in the insect larvae before cocoon is formed. This fungus seems to be one of the most awesome natural remedies Chinese people discovered and started to use for health improvement. The number of diseases, claimed to be lessened and cured by cordyceps, surprises even more than the remedy itself.

One of the disorders, which can be treated with the help of Cordyceps sinensis, is high bad cholesterol levels. This illness is among the diseases, which worry millions of people nowadays. No wonder we are scared by this condition, since it can be quite dangerous increasing a risk of or leading to such cardiovascular problems as heart attack and stroke.

Cordyceps sinensis is said to have power to fight this disease, lowering levels of low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol), as well as triglycerides level, which is also harmful for the human body if it exceeds acceptable bounds.

Lowering the levels of bad cholesterol and triglycerides are suggested to be achieved by the fungus ability to prevent the formation of cholesterol plaques on the walls of the blood vessels. The activity of macrophages is increased so that they cannot attach to the walls of the vessels and become a place for cholesterol to accumulate.

The results of a study conducted in nine hospitals with 273 patients with a history of hyperlipidemia (Hypercholesterolemia) showed the decrease in bad cholesterol level by 17% and triglycerides rates by 9%, while good cholesterol was increased on average by 27%. The study took place during two months, and even such short period of time was enough for cordyceps to positively influence lipid levels of patients.

Cordyceps also enhances blood flow, which may as well be beneficial for patients with high cholesterol levels. Besides, herbalists noticed long time ago that the fungus could improve liver function. Since cholesterol is made in the liver, this cordyceps’ benefit is very valuable for the treatment of lipid disorders too.

It was also noted by the scientists who conducted the trials in China and Japan that cordyceps caused no adverse events in patients. No side effects were reported during the first seven days of the treatment, while the beginning of any therapy is usually associated with negative response of the body to drugs, since organism is not acquainted with medications and needs time to get used to them.

Scientists do their best to save patients’ lives and health. Many people, however, do not wait for new discoveries and effective medications; they choose to fight their disorders with natural remedies. Many of them are happy to see the positive results.

I took Cordyceps for breathing problems, after being diagnosed with severe OSA, and spending 3months on O2. I found taking it about an hour before BF made me feel it was easier to breathe, and my exercise tolerance improved. I had no side effects. I am now taking reishi and Cordyceps for past two weeks and feel well.
