Pluses of Taking Vitamin B7

Conditions improved by a supplement

Each vitamin is essential for your body. So essential, that if you have not enough of the vitamin you get serious health deficiency problems. You need vitamin daily either in food you take or in supplement. Vitamin B7 plays key role in many processes in the body and promoted good functioning of the entire body.

First of all, its most popular usage is aimed to fight the problem of loosing hair, both in adults and children. Biotin consumption is one of the natural ways to promote healthy hair. Though recent studies approve the usage of the vitamin in treating hair loss, it is not well absorbed through the skin. So, it gives very little effect when used in shampoos.

The next famous positive effect is connected with healthy finger nails. As biotin deficiency results in weak nails, consumption of enough of the vitamin promotes hard healthy nails. For that reason biotin can be found in lots of cosmetic products for nails.

Biotin is very good in case of different skin disorders, such as seborrheic dermatitis and eczema, especially in children who suffer from PKU (phenylketonuria), as their body can’t use vitamin B7 properly. Recant studies have shown that increased doses of biotin improve both conditions.

Biotin plays one of the important roles in metabolism of fats, proteins and carbs. Certain enzymes together with biotin participate in metabolic process and are essential for assisting energy from all the food you eat. Without biotin your body won’t properly utilize all the fats, carbs, proteins, and even some vitamins (folic acid and vitamin B12).

In addition, biotin consumption reduces blood sugar levels and helps to keep normal levels of cholesterol.

Recommended daily dose

As it appeared to be very difficult to calculate a recommended dose per day, an adequate intake dose was set to meet dietary requirements for healthy people. Usual daily meal or supplements should have at least 30 mcg of biotin. An average dose for adults range from 35 to 60 mcg per day. Adequate dose for teenagers is 25 mcg/day, both for males and females. Pregnant women require 30 mcg of biotin per day and breastfeeding mothers a little bit more (35 mcg/day).

Children under 8 years need 12 mcg of biotin daily, and children from 8 to 13 require higher dose of it - 20 mcg daily. Children from 1 to 3 years are advised to take 8 mcg of the vitamin. 5 to 6 mcg of biotin is the adequate dose for infants (only with the recommendation and supervision of your health care provider).

Precautions and interactions

Despite the fact that there are no known biotin adverse effects, it is very important you understand that it’s your doctor’s job to recommend or proscribe you biotin as any other vitamins, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The same is for children. Note, that you need to know your adequate daily dose more to avoid the biotin deficiency state.

Biotin levels can be lowered by anti-seizure medications, oral antibiotics of broad-spectrum intake and high doses of pantothenic acid.
